« HEX », le parfait SPECIMEN

L'histoire de Specimen

En 1985, le groupe anglais Specimen sort un EP 3 titres, intitulé « Sharp Teeth » sur le label The Trust. Fondé à Bristol en 1981, ce groupe est l’un des pionniers de la scène Batcave. En effet, Jon Klein et Olli Wisdom, ses deux leaders, lancent à Soho (Londres) en 1982, des soirées Batcave dans le club du même nom.
« Sharp Teeth » comporte le morceau « Hex » (« Sorcière » est une traduction possible en français), très accrocheur, qui mêle les influences gothiques et glam rock. Une introduction lancinante au clavier, des guitares affûtées et des vocaux fougueux caractérisent ce titre éminemment dansant.

Sur le plan musical, « The Disappointed » est d’une composition absolument parfaite, avec une mélodie très agréable, des vocaux efficaces d’Andy Partridge et des arrangements particulièrement soignés. 3 minutes 30 de pur bonheur pour l’auditeur !

En 2013, le dernier album à ce jour de Specimen est paru. « Wake The Dead » montre que la veine rock/goth/glam qui inspire le groupe depuis ses débuts est loin d’être tarie.
